School Life
Part-Time Job
Here in Japan, many overseas students are able to work for a living as a part-timer or a temp-worker to the extent that their work won’t affect their own study for which you are here in Japan. Please keep in mind, however, your eligibility to stay in Japan for your studying purpose literally means you must devote yourself to study. Therefore, in principle you are not allowed to do other forms of activities-including working for a living-than studying. If you want to work part-time for a living, you must obtain the official permission from Immigration Bureau beforehand.
Also, you must make sure that you won’t breach any of the working requirements and regulations below:
① Weekly working hours must be 28 hours or less in total.
Daily working hours when you are in a seasonal long vacation must be 8 hours or less in total.
② Any of sexually entertaining jobs or its associated jobs are strictly prohibited by law.
If you are found to breach any of these requirements and regulations or if you work part-time without the above-mentioned permission, you will be defined as an illegal worker and be subject to fine, forced deportation and/or other heavy penalties.
If you come to study at our school with a tourist visa, you are never allowed to work for a living in any forms.
Many of our students working part-time work at factories or serve for customers at restaurant.
Their average hourly wages are from 830yen to 900yen (about 90,000yen per month).
Income through your part-time job can cover your living expenses here in Wakayama where you will stay.
Also, you will able to learn social rules in Japan and make Japanese friends through your part-time job.
The better you can command Japanese language, the better job you can find.
Therefore, your daily hard effort to learn Japanese is highly important.
