YMCA in Japan

YMCA also has its branches in Japan. The first branch of YMCA was established in Tokyo (TOKYO YMCA) in 1880. Since then, 34 branches of YMCA have been established here in Japan. They have been playing an important role in modernizing and internationalizing the society of Japan and its citizens through promoting sports & camping activities, linguistic and vocational educations, etc. At the same time, YMCA in Japan has been actively working on sound fostering of juveniles. 12 YMCA in Japan teach Japanese.
